Event & Conference Co. was recently invited to explore Accor’s one-year-young boutique hotel Wonil (meaning “Peppermint Tree” in the local Noongar language). This intimate venue is nestled amongst the foliage on the banks of the Swan River, on the UWA campus. All profits from the venue go to supporting medical and scientific research.
What we loved
The styling – arriving at the lobby, we were pleasantly surprised by the bright space featuring WA sourced timbers, Indigenous artwork and artefacts, and soft furnishings in earthy tones.
The view – large windows in the lobby open up to an expansive terrace overlooking the picturesque Swan River. This space would be an impressive area to hold a cocktail function for up to 130 guests.
The restaurant – Wonil’s West Kitchen & Bar serves exclusively WA food and beverages, including soft drink produced in the South West, and Toby’s Estate custom blend coffee. Additionally, the restaurant’s AV projector screen caters to various function requirements.
The rooms – beautifully styled with WA timbers, with the premium rooms featuring balconies overlooking the river.
Things to consider
Parking – Unfortunately there is very little parking on site, however there is street parking along Hackett Drive and within the UWA carparks a short walk from the hotel.
Size – This is a small boutique hotel, so more ideal for smaller blocks/functions. With 66 rooms available for guests and seating for 80 in the restaurant.
